What Is
Focus on what is before declaring: this is why,
For stories of why are driven by mind;
Stories from which it can use to decide
If what is makes sense, is allowed, is aligned.
Yet it be not contentment gained
From most reasons why explained,
But fleeting satisfaction based
Upon a story mind narrates.
When you notice an explanation arise,
Ask before concluding it true:
Does it bring joy, peace, connection,
Or is it distancing me from love, from you?
There be no wrongs, no rights, no strife,
When we focus on what is in life.
What am I thinking?
What am I believing?
What am I emoting?
What am I needing?
What is my state of being?
What is my perception of you?
What can I do more skilfully?
What would love now do?
If we ask such questions,
And are truthful with replies,
Understanding might emerge,
And a congruent why.
Focus on what is,
If reality you seek.
While grand stories entertain,
It’s truth that brings us peace.
